Fight Effectively
Fight Effectively
There are a myriad of things one can do to protest and fight this taking of freedom. Some is more effective than others, some are just plain satisfying and others are an undertaking. A few options are covered here with advice:
Voice Opposition Effectively
In whatever way you make your voice heard - written “opinion” pieces, debate, communication with politicians, etc. - it is imperative that you say and show the fraud surrounding second hand smoke and health. It’s great to express private property freedom and individual liberty, but you MUST shoot down the belief that “second hand smoke is deadly” - it’s not, not even close.
Believe me, in my years of experience in voicing, nothing raises the ire and defensiveness of any anti-smoker than challenging their beliefs on second hand smoke - this is because they know that it’s the only leg they have to stand on.
In writing to political and association representatives, it is imperative that you write - and by this I mean paper, letter and stamp. Email is cheap and easy, and as such usually goes unread. A letter shows special effort - these will get read. Their identities and addresses are almost always located in your city’s/county’s/state’s website.
Your Living Actions - where you eat and drink
If, in your area, there does not exist a ban, then show support of smoking environments by going there and only there - often. And let them know that you are there because you are welcome.
If there is a ban, and you must go out, at least only visit places that would have otherwise allowed you to smoke - and express to the management that you’d be there by choice a great deal more, and not out of obligation, if there wasn’t a ban.
If there is no ban in your area, might I suggest this activity when you have time and patience: Stop by some restaurants that you know don’t allow smoking and ask for smoking. When they tell you they don’t have such - make a stink. Now I don’t mean have a hissy fit, but with resolve and disappointment let management know you will not dine or drink there because of it. Think of it as an adventure in controlled confrontation. Hey, restaurants and bars will not know they’ve lost customers if we don’t speak up.
If your favorite place suddenly decides to ban smoking, again express outrage calmly - and give the owner/manager your phone number (or more safely, your work number) and tell them to call you if they decide to accommodate you again, for you will not be back otherwise.
Clearly in life, exceptions must be made in avoiding smoker-unfriendly places, but these are guidelines to try and live by. Myself - I try and let the exceptions be when I’m not paying or it’s business (i.e. I’m not paying).

Below are some very good links to keep yourself informed. These organizations are non-profit and operate solely for passion for our freedoms. Get to know them and when your comfortable, help them out if you can.

If you are a restaurant/bar owner or liberty organization planning a lawsuit against a smoking ban, I strongly suggest to go immediately HERE.

And one more source that can be useful:
Both of the above sites have extensive links pages to various local freedom organizations. The Citizen Freedom alliance’s page is not obvious, so click HERE
