State of Affairs

Updated 9/10/11

Two years of hell - that is what the Pelosi/Reid/Obama congress has given us. Aside from debt up to our eyeballs, expanded government and socialist moves in healthcare, they have specifically steeply raised taxes on Smokers, banned our ability to purchase via mail and given sweeping regulatory power over our products to the FDA, which has banned clove and other flavored cigarettes, and still plans on banning Menthol and filling the packaging with gruesome pictures.

Thankfully, this train wreck will at least slow or stop with the new congress as Republicans take over the House. At least one hopes. Start writing your Reps now. Hopefully, no more damage will be done. With any luck, maybe some damage will be reversed.

Below are past and present bills that affect our freedom. Click below for the skinny on these assaults to our freedom.

Black subjects mean they are a done deal and freedom has been wounded, Red means we can still fight it, Green means our freedom was protected.

And this would be a good time to contact your House of Representative members and demand curtailment of damage. This would include:

  1. Opposing (by action or de-funding) the FDA’s plans to outlaw menthol cigarettes and require gruesome photos on packaging (which we will pay for in higher prices)

  2. In General, de-funding the FDA’s ability to restrict tobacco products to adults.

  3. Move toward reversing HR-2 (the fed cigarette and tobacco tax increase).

  4. Reversing or softening S-1147, which outlaws Mail and Internet order of cigarettes.

Find your Rep and Senator’s names using the links at the top of this page, and be sure to copy Rep. John Boehner (new House speaker).
