To Completely Fuck Pipe Smokers Fiscally

This bill, quite plainly, imposes a steep increase of the Federal tax in pipe tobacco. It does so by applying the same tax rate on pipe tobacco as is applied to loose “roll your own” tobacco. This is an increase from about 3 dollars to 25 dollars per pound.
According to rumor, some “roll your own” manufacturers are marketing their tobacco as pipe tobacco to avoid the steep tax - though, quite frankly, I haven’t seen this happening. Putting aside the fact that the tax on “roll your own” or or cigarettes for that matter is outrageous to begin with, this bill purports to punish pipe smokers as acceptable collateral damage.
