How to get there:

From State 14, turn on Woodruff toward Greenville / I-385 interchange, second light on your right, just past a graveyard - you can’t miss their sign.

From I-385: exit 35 (right from I-385N, left from I-385S). a few lights, on your left.

Hours of Operation:

Seven days a week. Lunch 11 AM-2:30 PM. Dinner 5 PM to: Monday - Thursday ~ 10 PM, Fri. & Sat. ~12 AM, Sunday 9 PM

Experience:

Casual, friendly, somewhat upscale - but not pretentious

Details:

After a five month “experiment” catering to the anal-retentive, and clearly ungrateful, anti-smoking crowd, MiMi’s has re-welcomed its smoking regulars back as of October 2009.

The ONLY Sushi and Japanese place in this area that accommodates smokers, Mimi’s Steakhouse of Japan consists of a Hibachi (cook at tables) dining room, sushi bar and bar/lounge. Food features Japanese (Hibachi), Sushi and a variety of asian small plates. You can order anything from any part of the restaurant. The Hibachi is decent, but the sushi and other asian fare is great.

NOTE: Do NOT confuse Mimi’s Japanese with Mimi’s Cafe - the latter is a chain of american bland fare and we are NOT welcome there.

Smoking Accommodation:

The bar, which is quite big, and two four-seater tables in the bar/lounge area. You might have to ask for an ashtray at those tables.

Also remember - Mimi’s has two other locations, one in Simpsonville and the other in Greer. Both of these places are smaller and only accomodate smoking late in the evening, if at all. Only the Woodruff location welcomes smokers all the time.

If you want Mimi’s Japanese to continue welcoming smokers, I strongly suggest you thank Mimi and/or Soong, the owners (siblings, not a couple), for accommodating us. Let them know that you will frequent the place because the food is great, the people are wonderful and that we are welcome there.
